From Root to Fruit

根つき穂つき Netsuki Hotsuki

The rice used is ripened in the fall and pulled out by the roots. The soil on the roots is thoroughly washed and dried, and then boldly braided as is. The roots stand out as much as the ears of rice, making this auspicious ornament full of earthy vitality.

“Take root, grow tall and bear fruit.” This symbolizes the desire to put down roots where you are and be fruitful in the land.
